There's not enough time in the day!
This blog is usually a message from everyone at Eros, but this particular entry is from me, The Snerd.
I have a problem with you, Carly Milne. Your book, Naked Ambition, is too damned good. Why couldn't you have released it when things were less busy for me? You are stealing sleep from me, damn it! GAH! I must confess that I am not reading the chapters in order. I haven't had the time to. I skipped ahead to the people that I either, know and love, or know of in the industry. Of course, our own sex shop warrior princess, Sheila Rae, had the chapter that I skipped to first. I've worked with this woman for many years now, and I still learn something new about her every day. I can say, honestly and without bias, that she needs to write a full length book. She is a tease and she knows it. She dangles some seriously intriguing and juicy tales in your face and only gives you enough to make you want more, more, more. I've already yelled at Carly. Now I'm yelling at you, Sheila. Here's a taste of the book to get you folks hooked:
... Our circle of friends became smaller. Bobby price, a renowned storyteller whose father, Elliott, ran Ceasar's Palace and was featured in the book Casino, died. Frank Salemme, dashing and handsome, and loved by the city, also died. There are enough stories about our close friends, like these two, to fill volumes. Stories dealing with humor, close calls, and honor to friends and family. On an optimistic note, some of our cronies gained fame and fortune at the same time the others faltered. David Fioravanti became a recent reality show winner and aspiring actor. Brian Goodman (nephew), who after defending his sister from her boyfriend, was accused by both, ending up incarcerated. Upon his release, he answered a casting call, while having coffee with my stepson in South Boston, and wondering what job he could get to satisfy the conditions of his parole. This led to a bit part in Good Will Hunting, and then good fortune progressed in the form of Blow, The Last Castle, and the series In the Line of Fire. Proof positive that sometimes karma does not bite you on the ass, but walks with you arm and arm and gives you hugs and kisses.
That was just a piece of a paragraph in Sheila's chapter. You'd think this woman would have a big ego or somthing. WRONG! I have never met a person more down to earth, loving, and hard working than her. On top of everything else, she finds time to be the kind of mom you hope to be. She already blew me away, but that chapter has turned me into a damned fangirl. She is probably going to kick my ass for writing about her like this, but I don't care. It needed to be said. I just realized that we sell quite a few items that could be used against my ass. I think I'll be wearing layers to work tomorrow.
Other standouts thus far:
Tera Patrick slams you in the face (like a bedpan? read the book and you'll know what I mean) with her frank and honest contribution. Tristan Taormino has been a favorite of mine for a while now. I knew that I would love what she had to say. Actually, I haven't found a chapter to be anything but stellar so far. I have about half of the book to go before I'm done, but I doubt that it's going to disappoint.
I do know this much. It's 1am and I am sitting here writing instead of sleeping. It will probably take the Sleep Deprived Mafia Henchmen of DOOM to get me to go to bed without reading first. There should be a Sleep S.W.A.T. for people like me.
"Put down the book, ma'am. I said, PUT THE BOOK DOWN!!! Do not, I repeat, do not turn that page. Keep your hands where I can see them and tuck yourself in."
I think you get the idea.
Goodnight!
